Passive Fire Protection Foundation (One Day) Course
Aim
If you carrying out maintenance work that will affect the safety of occupied premises. This course introduces the role of passive fire protection within the building structure and its relationship with other life safety systems.
Learning Objectives
By the end of course, the delegate will:
- understand the basics of fire spread in buildings
- be aware of how passive fire protection can mitigate, reduce or prevent fire spread
- be familiar with the specific regulations and standards related to building products, construction and maintenance
- be aware of the different types of building products for passive fire protection, fire safety systems and equipment

- Fire safety legislation
- Technical fire protection
- Classification of building materials
- 3rd party certification and accreditation
- Fire doors, shutters and glazing
- Compartmentation, partitioning and ceiling systems
- Fire Stopping, seals and cavity barriers
- Ducting and dampers
- Cladding
