The NFB unveils its Major Contractors Group

The board of the National Federation of Builders (NFB) is pleased to announce the formation of the NFB Major Contractors Group (NFB MCG).

Mark Wakeford, joint managing director of Stepnell Limited and chair of the NFB MCG, said:

“We are really proud to launch this group, which will give larger NFB members the opportunity to talk to the people who devise policy that ends up influencing their very own businesses. The group will challenge many of the sector’s misconceptions and be a talisman for best practice and future proofing the sector.”

The group is a dynamic forum of over 30 major contractors with turnovers greater than £40 million.
The group will have access to exclusive meetings and prestigious events in the Palace of Westminster. Its aim is to improve government understanding of larger construction businesses, while also enhancing the broader commercial environment for its members.

The group is open only to NFB members, who will meet parliamentarians, ministers and key decision makers to discuss and influence policy issues that are crucial to their businesses. It will be led by a board which will set the agenda that defines policy, contract terms, payment best practice, the impact of technology, skills and the impact of Brexit.

It will help NFB members achieve sustainable growth by:

• aiding the development of genuinely collaborative supply chains;
• supporting them in delivering improved performance and mitigating risk;
• providing exclusive networking opportunities to share information and knowledge;
• representing their views to influential policymakers.

The first meeting of the NFB Major Contractors Group Board will take place in June with its main forum planned for the 11 November 2019 in the Palace of Westminster.
