Industry Initiatives
Creative thinking for construction
Here at the NFB, we have strong ties with strategic industry partners which gives us access to a wealth of funding and opportunities that we in turn passed onto our members. This section is regularly updated with the latest initiatives to help your company save money; training people, training companies, training futures.

Building Information Modelling (BIM) - innovation and collaboration
Building Information Modelling (BIM) is part of the Government Construction Strategy which will result in significant changes in the way public sector clients procure construction projects. BIM will be the required standard across all centrally-funded government projects by 31 March 2016.
With a view to supporting SMEs through BIM implementation, NFB Training has successfully secured funding through ConstructionSkills to support an Early Adoption Programme which will include guidance around collaborative working and supply chain management.
Consortia - together we are stronger
The growth of regional procurement frameworks or 'collaborative purchasing' which bundles together long term public infrastructure projects, means that many contractors are being squeezed out of contracts, unable to meet the turnover thresholds imposed.
NFB Training understands that winning work is at the top of the construction agenda, that's why we have developed our Consortia business model to help our members form a Consortium and come together to bid for work.
LEAN - survive and thrive
LEAN construction focuses on implementing processes which minimise the waste of materials and reduces time and effort spent across the life of a project, in order to generate maximum value and advantage.
NFB Training has gained funding from ConstructionSkills to deliver a full LEAN initiative which looks to deliver enhanced quality, cost savings and opportunities for improvement across whole projects.

Procurement Solutions - winning work
Getting your foot in the door on a long term framework will not only strengthen your business but also provide your workforce with a sustainable future.
NFB Training has developed a number of procurement tools to point you in the right direction on the road to success.
A Qualified Workforce - building a better future
A qualified workforce creates a sustainable business; up-skilling employees means our members are better placed to respond to developments in the sector and meet the demands of their clients.
NFB Training is committed to supporting the qualification and competence of those working in the construction industry. Working in partnership with external agencies such as ConstructionSkills and educational providers in local authorities, means that we can provide our members with the latest information, so you can get the best out of your workforce.
