Leadership and Management

Construction Managers could do better…Managers in the Construction industry are working harder than ever to train their people, but seem to be neglecting their own development. Statistics from research have revealed that managers working in the sector scored only 45 percentile in management proficiency assessments compared to a national average of 54 percentile.

Evidence suggests that investment management training brings about substantial positive impact on ‘bottom line’ business performance whilst also significantly enhancing a company’s competitiveness.

The most successful businesses have managers and leaders who inspire their workforce, have teams that are resilient and open to new people and ideas, and use planning, communication and evaluation tools and techniques in innovative ways.

Responding to this situation NFB Training in partnership with The Peplow Group, leadership and management development specialists launched a pilot programme with members in the West Midlands, to improve commercial competitiveness by raising the level of knowledge and skills of their Managers. As a result of the recent successes, we are pleased to make this programme available to all NFB members

The programme delivers a ‘blend’ of different development interventions which includes:

  • assessment at the beginning to establish a start point
  • business coaching
  • team development
  • workshops

It is the combination of this blend of different activities and the ‘little and often’ approach which moves the development from simply gaining new knowledge to consistent application in the workplace.

The programme is suitable for managers with responsibilities for managing people or resources from either large or small organisations. The programme is 50% supported by CITB- ConstructionSkills Management & Supervisory Development Fund.
