NFB Launches Campaign to Keep Kids Safe this Summer
Leading trade body, the National Federation of Builders (NFB), has launched a major campaign to reduce the number of fatalities and accidents involving children on construction sites.
The unique initiative, supported by B&CE Benefit Schemes, will see thousands of Stay Safe, Stay Away warning posters distributed to hundreds of UK building sites and community centres, play schemes and sports facilities.
The posters have been designed by school children, with the seven winning designs chosen from each of the Federations regional offices in June. Each competition winner also received 1,000 for their school.
The campaign has been headed by NFBs campaign mascot, Norman the Friendly Builder. Earlier in the year, Norman and representatives from the NFB visited schools across the UK to launch the competition and raise awareness of the dangers of playing on building sites.
According to statistics from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), 16 children have been killed and more than 800 injured in the past ten years as a direct result of playing on building sites.
