NFB 2009 - Information/Launches

Thank you to all of those who participated in the ballots concerning the proposed change in legal status and the resignation from the Construction Confederation (CC).

In both cases, an overwhelming number of members voted in favour of the proposals put forward. NFB Ltd will commence trading as of 2 January 2009. The notice period for resignation from the CC will begin on 1 January and run through to 31 December, 2009.

May I take this opportunity to tell members about the enhancement these changes will bring to our lobbying and service provisions.

The NFB will now offer a fuller range of member benefits, incorporating additional services that were previously the responsibility of the CC, such as health & safety, and taxation.

Lobbying work is now purely in our hands, rather than being diluted by issues from a wider umbrella organisation. This will put SME interests to the forefront of our work in Government. Early in January, this will kick-off with a meeting between members and the Construction Minister, Ian Pearson.

The new legal status has placed us in an excellent position to grow and we look forward to welcoming members who wish to step-up as officers and directors in the near future.

We will be introducing new products and services during 2009, for up-to-date details on these please use the following link: NEW for 2009

This year’s changes represent a milestone in the organisation’s modernisation at a time when a new direction will be of a great benefit to its membership.

Julia Evans – Chief Executive
