NFB - Midlands
The demand for business growth and innovation remains constant as companies work to remain competitive, forging their own path to recovery. Work and initiatives in the region underpins members in these endeavours.
The Midlands Training Funding Umbrella is an initiative launching in early 2012 to showcase funding streams available to members from a number of NFB local association and partnership schemes in the region, as well as an innovative community-based project by Birmingham to support a young person to enter the construction industry. It also will highlight national schemes and the NFB Funding search function which assists members in sourcing available grants and funding to assist their organisational development.
Cross-disciplinary liaison and engendering stronger links between NFB Midlands members and other construction professionals from surveying, architectural practice, and engineering is a key goal for Adele in developing the strength of the NFB in the region and opening up work opportunities for members. Following the successful GetWork Network (GWNW) pilot in Southern region, plans are underway for a joint event for Warwickshire and Northants with our Oxfordshire members, as well as other GWNW events for the region in 2012.
Local authority liaison across the Midlands has been established with city and county councils both East and West of her region, giving members the opportunity for face-to-face dialogue with key decision-makers.
The region also has a buoyant Continuous Improvement Club, has brought together a number of consortia, and maintains links with the Leicestershire Joint Consultative Committee, promoting and hosting the annual Merit Craftsmanship Awards.
