What House? Awards 2008 with HBA

The What House? Awards are a celebration of the UK new homes market and the largest gathering of its kind, with leading industry figures in attendance - from housebuilders to suppliers and the media. Whilst the awards continue to celebrate the best of new homes across the UK, this year they were also tackling the serious business of the recovery of the industry in 2009.

The House Builders Association (HBA), and division of the NFB, was a key sponsor for this year’s Awards’.  Roger Humber, nationally recognised spokesman for the HBA said:  "As the voice of small to medium sized house builders, who make up the majority of firms in the building industry, the House Builders Association (HBA) is proud to support these awards". He continued “although many companies are ‘battening down the hatches’ we must continue to support the industry and influence key government decisions. The industry will recover, and when it does our members will be best placed to take full advantage”.

The awards, held on the 21st November 2008 at the Grovesnor House Hotel in London, were a huge success with over 900 key housebuilding figures in attendance. Shadow Housing Minister, Grant Shapps - one of the speakers – outlined what the Conservatives have planned for housing and the housebuilding industry. Editorial Director Rupert Bates posed questions to Mr Shapps from the What House? Awards guests in order to discover how the Conservatives would help housebuilders trade out of one of the worst downturns in history.
